Why not use Simple Scan, which is an easy-to-use application, designed to let users connect their scanner and easily have the image/document in a suitable format…

$ sudo dnf install simple-scan
Or
$ sudo snap install simple-scan

I installed Fedora 37 as a virtual machine to test but it cannot detect my scanner. It’s an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 and I am able to print to it.

Document Scanner in Fedora 37 says it can’t detect a scanner.

I am able to scan while on other distros but not Fedora so I am hoping that you could help with this.
